Difference between floodlights and searchlights

The biggest difference between searchlights and floodlights is the light distribution and shape.

The floodlights are square while the searchlights are trumpet-shaped.

The speed of light of the floodlights is wide while the beam of the searchlights is narrow.

Floodlight is a kind of lamp with uniform illumination of point light source, the irradiation range can be adjusted arbitrarily, and a regular octahedron pattern will be displayed when projected on the ground. It is mainly used for the lighting of large-scale mines, stadiums, parks, flower beds and other large places.

The change range of the light beam of the flood light is between 0 and 180. The main components of the floodlight are three parts: optical components, mechanical components, and electrical components. The optic is a gobo grid that reflects and confines light. The mechanical part is mainly the shell, which plays the role of fixing and adjusting the light source and protecting the glass.

Electrical components are mainly based on the need to choose to install current fillers, capacitors and triggers and other devices. The light source of the searchlight is powerful, and with the help of a reflector or lens, the light can be concentrated in one direction to obtain strong light. It is generally used for long-distance lighting and search lighting. Because of the large size and heavy weight, large searchlights generally have a tripod or a mobile carrier for ease of use. Even large searchlights have to use trucks as carriers. The small-sized searchlight is more convenient to carry, and can adjust the light, has the characteristics of energy saving, and the searchlight also has the function of waterproof and drop-proof.
